Craniosacral Therapy

It is a non-invasive therapy working and supporting the body’s own ability to selfheal, self-regulate and self-organise.I am trained in Bio-dynamic Craniosacral therapy, which facilitates this process.

Bio-dynamic Craniosacral  allows the body to do what it needs to when it needs to do it, it is a very organic process. It is working with the whole system, treating the person not the condition. This method is said to work from the inside out, supporting the client emotionally, physically and mentally.

It provides the client with a contained safe environment in which their process can unfold. This healing space provides a way in which the client’s system can express itself and be heard. This practise is client led. My job is to track this process through touch. This assists the client’s body to notice where it is not functioning to the best of its ability and then to enable them to use their natural self-balancing and health promoting abilities to maximize their vitality and wellbeing.

This skilled form of observation can have profound effects as it is supporting the client and their process.

The Bio-dynamic Cranio-Sacral method uses very gentle contact to different parts of the body to promote the body’s self-healing mechanism.

How Craniosacral therapy evolved

Craniosacral therapy is known for its gentle, subtle and profound method of healing. It is attracting an increasing interest for its gentle approach. It developed through the work of the eminent American osteopath Dr Sutherland. He found subtle intrinsic movements and rhythm’s in the body that he concluded were deeply linked with mental, physical and emotional health and he thought that restrictions in these movements were related to a reduction of the body’s natural ability to heal. Such restrictions could cause the body not to be working to its optimum health and not functioning to the best of its ability.

Craniosacral therapy supports other forms of treatments, both conventional and complimentary.

Who is it for?

People come to Craniosacral therapy due to a broad range of symptoms both long standing and current, physical and emotional.

Others come for ongoing treatment to support their busy lives helping to meet life’s challenges.

Due to the subtle nature of Craniosacral therapy it can be used to treat all ages from babies to the elderly.

What happens during a session?

In a session, the client will lie fully clothed on a treatment table, while the therapist makes gentle contact with their hands and listens to the body. You may have an awareness of heat, tingling, pulsations and other sensations. Each person’s experience is individual. You are likely to feel deeply relaxed. The resulting changes can help in reducing stress and enhance wellbeing.

Initially a full case history will be taken to get a clear picture of the client’s story to date. Please bring along the name of any medication you are currently taking.
